The Pouring Rain

May 19, 2010

A river
takes a giant leap from the clouds,
and comes down hard
onto these congested streets.

It collects itself,
and flows onward,
against traffic,
towards a nearby drain —

where it readies itself
for another dive.

  1. Very fine image of a down pour…so vivid…and a very clever phrasing of the event.

    • Thanks! Such heavy rains recently where I live. It’s all I could think of as I sat in traffic.
